As part of the commemoration of National Remembrance Day and the 81st anniversary of the massacres of 8 May 1945, the Department of History at the Faculty of Social
and Human Sciences organised a national symposium entitled
: Crimes of French Colonialism in Algeria 1830–1962. The forum saw notable participation from academics from a large number of universities and research centres across the country, through both in-person and remote sessions, where the attending academics and students benefited from the valuable lectures delivered by the speakers.
A highlight of the conference was the faculty’s tribute to the university rector in his capacity as a research professor and historian, on the occasion of the publication of his book “The Resistance of Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Taher: National and Maghreb Perspectives, 1874–1931” Professor Dr. Qan Muhammad then gave a presentation on the book, highlighting its scientific and historical significance, which is considered a remarkable contribution to efforts to strengthen and preserve national memory.
